Questions

What size storage unit do I need for a one-bedroom apartment?

A 10 × 10 is the usual answer for a one-bedroom apartment with a sofa, a bed, a dresser and about 25 boxes. A lighter load can fit in a 5 × 10. Load your own list above to see the result.

How many square feet is a 10 × 10 storage unit?

A 10 × 10 unit is 100 square feet. With ceilings around 8 feet, that is roughly 800 cubic feet of space, though how much you can use depends on how high you can safely stack.

Should I leave an aisle in my storage unit?

Yes, in units 10 feet deep or longer. A walkway about 2 feet wide lets you reach items in the back without unloading the front. The calculator reserves that space for you.

What if my list falls between two sizes?

Pick the larger size. A load that only just fits on paper rarely fits in practice, and a unit with spare floor makes every future visit easier.

How accurate is the estimate?

It is a floor space estimate with boxes stacked five high, so treat it as a strong starting point. Real loads change with how tightly you pack and how much you stack furniture.

Is anything I enter sent to a server?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. The only thing sent is your email address if you ask to see the packing plan.

Run a storage facility?

We can put a calculator like this on your website, with your unit sizes and a reserve button.
